The company says it can take up to 90 days to fully delete your account and the information associated with it.

To do this, go to Settings and click Download a copy of your Facebook data.

Click on Start My Archive which will begin the process of downloading all your photos, sessions, chat history and data.

How to deactivate your Facebook account?


Deactivating your account is much less serious - it simply takes your Facebook account offline so that people cannot search for you but your account remains available to log back into.

Head over to the account menu, either be on the top right of your web browser or on the cog icon on yourmobileand click on settings.

Click General in the settings and then Manage your account.
