Google's holding its annual hardware event on 9 October, and among the new products expected to feature is an update to its original Pixelbook, for now known as 'Nocturne'. The name almost certainly has something to do with the metallic blue casing revealed in leaked images.
The first images to leak via keyboard maker Brydge (source) point to a sleek tablet running Chrome OS that attaches to a Bluetooth keyboard via pogo pin, with a USB-C port and elongated speakers either side, and a fingerprint sensor on the top edge. Multiple mics are also visible, and necessary to supports the Pixelbook 2's rumoured AEC (acoustic echo cancellation).
What you can't see from the images is the fanless Intel 8th-generation Kaby Lake processor and 3Gb/s NVMe storage thought to be inside.
This is just one of two rumoured new Chrome OS Pixelbooks, the second code-named 'Atlas' and expected to arrive with a 4K (3840x2160) screen. There is some suggestion that it may even support Windows 10, according to XDA Developers.
When is the Pixelbook 2 release date?
The Pixelbook 2 will almost certainly be announced during Google's annual hardware event on 9 October 2018. This kicks off at 4pm BST, and we'll explain how you can watch live nearer the time. We'll also bring you news of any product announcements during the event.
