What is DSLR?
Third party image reference
DSLR stands for Digital Single-Lens Reflex Camera is a digital camera technology that combines optics and the mechanism of a single-lens reflex camera with the digital imaging sensor technology .
In the reflex design technology the light first travels through the lens and then to a mirror that alternates to send the image to the viewfinder or the image sensor or camera eye.
A DSLR technology differs from non-reflex single-lens digital cameras as viewfinder presents a direct optical view through the lens that is more close to the image captured by the sensor , rather than the image being captured by the camera's image sensor and then displayed by a digital screen or LCD display. So basically viewfinder gives the exact view that is to be captured.

FEATURES AND TECHNOLOGIES IN DSLR
PHASE-DETECTION AUTOFOCUS
DSLRs use autofocus based on phase detection technology . This method allows the optimal lens position to be calculated, rather than found , as would be the case with autofocus based on contrast maximisation.
MODE DIAL
A mode dial or camera dial is a dial used in digital cameras to change the camera's mode and settings according to requirements. Modern digital cameras DSLR and SLR-like cameras have support modes and selectable settings either by using a dial or from a setting menu.
DUST REDUCTION SYSTEMS
A mechanism to prevent dust entering the chamber of camera by using a dust cover filter right behind the lens mount , this was first used by Sigma in its first DSLR the Sigma SD9, in 2002.
INTERCHANGEABLE LENSES
Third party image reference
The key factors in the popularity of DSLR cameras is the ability to exchange lenses and to select the best lens for the photographic need according to scene and to allow the attachment of specialised lenses.
IMAGE SENSOR OR EYE OF CAMERA
Third party image reference
Image sensor is the light sensing element of camera that is made of semiconductor matetial . It is general law that "Larger sensor sizes and better image quality" . as larger sensor receives more light.
The resolution of picture taken by camera is determined by dimensions and pixel size of sensor.
