The Android platform keeps on facing threats from malware from time to time. This time too it's been attacked by a malware named 'Joker'. The virus relied on ads for signing up people for premium subscriptions and then steal data from the background.
Joker malware's presence has been seen in 37 countries across the world. India is largely affected by the Joker virus.
The malware is dangerous to data privacy for Android Users. As expected, it has been already downloaded widely on a lot of Android phones.
Google found out about the presence of the Joker virus in 24 apps on the play store. Now it has been removed from the play store. As the infected apps have been downloaded almost half a million times, the threat is still looming out in the real world. The malware was able to secretly sign people up to premium subscription services. It can steal SMS messages, contacts, and gather device information such as the serial and IMEI numbers.
