WhatsApp delete message feature may soon become reality: Here's everything you need to know

WhatsApp 'Delete Message' or 'Disappearing Message' feature has been making quite a noise on the internet for a long time now. This upcoming functionality was first spotted in a WhatsApp iOS beta update late last year, and now it has reportedly been spotted in two new Android beta updates which means the update might be nearing its launch date.
According to a report by Wabetainfo, the Facebook-owned messaging app has submitted two new updates through the Google Play Beta Program and bumped up the version to 2.20.83/2.20.84. In these two beta builds, the Delete Messages feature was discovered for individual chats. But, this time, WhatsApp appears to have changed the plan and reintroduced it for one-on-one conversations (chats).

WhatsApp Delete Messages rollout timeline?

The reports suggest that "The feature is under development, but today we know that, when WhatsApp is going to release the feature, the Delete Messages feature will work for individual chats too. When the user enables the feature, a clock icon will appear in the bubble." This will help you in tracking when the messages will disappear. As of now, there's no fixed timeline for the rollout of the feature.
The Delete Messages feature will work as a cleaning tool for groups and individual chats. It will help in saving the storage of your device by enabling you to delete group messages automatically after a certain period. The feature will, however, only be limited to administrators, which means only admins of groups will be able to enable or disable the Delete Messages feature.
