After several leaks and rumours, Realme took covers off the all-new Realme 2 Pro (review) and the budget-centric C1 at an event yesterday. The Realme 2 Pro comes across as a loaded offering in the mid-tier segment with features such as a dewdrop notch, Snapdragon 660 processor and up to 8GB of RAM. With prices starting Rs 13,999, the handset can easily give several mid-rangers a run for their money. Curious to know how? Let’s take a look at what all the Realme 2 Pro brings to the table.
A large display with a teardrop notch
The display notch is becoming ubiquitous, but smartphone manufacturers are still finding a way to get around it. An interesting solution is a small cut-out. The Realme 2 Pro comes equipped with a 6.3-inch FHD display and a teardrop notch that is much smaller than the regular notch. The 19:5:9 aspect ratio and a 90.8 per cent screen-to-body ratio is impressive, and a rarity in this segment.Design brilliance
The vivid display along with the glossy black add a premium look to the device. Meanwhile, the back is treated with a dewdrop arc with curved edges that aid towards better ergonomics. The glossy rear panel is apparently manufactured by superimposing multiple layers of laminations. The Realme 2 Pro can be had in shades of Black Sea, Blue Ocean, and Ice Lake.
Powerful processor
Well, the Qualcomm 600 series has been a personal favourite for mid-range smartphones. The Realme 2 Pro is powered by the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 660. However, the best part is that buyers can opt for the top-of-the-line variant that comes with 8GB RAM, something that is previously unheard of in the mid-range segment. Summing it up, the Realme 2 Pro is available in three variants 4GB RAM/64GB storage, 6GB RAM/64GB Storage, and 8GB RAM and 128GB Storage. It is also worth mentioning that at Rs 17,999, the top-of-the-line 8GB variant seems like an excellent value for money proposition. The Realme 2 Pro comes equipped with a dual rear camera setup comprising a 16MP f/1.7 Sony IMX398 primary and a 2MP f/2.2 secondary sensor. Other camera highlights include AI features, shooting modes, and Phase Detection Autofocus (PDAF). As far as the selfie/front camera is concerned the Realme 2 Pro bakes in a 16MP f/2.0 sensor.
Big battery
Realme 2 Pro is backed by a 3,500mAh battery and this in tandem with the frugal Snapdragon 660 should help in achieving better battery life. The company claims that the Realme 2 Pro will last for an entire day’s usage with a single charge which is pretty reasonable. Another point to note is that the Realme 2 Pro supports dual 4G and this means that 4G will work on both the SIM slots. The prices for the Realme 2 Pro starts at Rs 13,990 for the 4GB/64GB variant. The mid variant with 6GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage will retail at Rs 15,990, while the most loaded variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage is priced at Rs 17,990. All the variants of the Realme 2 Pro will be exclusively available on Flipkart starting October 11th.
