You may want to switch accounts because dislike your current email address or your account may become inundated with spam. Switching email accounts might feel like a daunting task, because you need to notify everyone of your new email address, and there is also the fear you will miss an important message that you can’t afford to miss.
How to transfer Outlook messages and contacts into Gmail:
Before beginning the import process, prepare your Outlook account by copying any messages you want to keep from your Deleted and Junk folders into your Inbox
Select the Settings button in the upper right side of your Gmail account.
At the top of the Settings page, select the Accounts and Import tab.
In the Import mail and contacts section, select Import mail and contacts.
If you have previously imported, select Import from another address.
This opens a window which will ask you What account do you want to import from?
How to forward emails to Outlook:
You can forward your messages while retaining a copy with your old mail service.
Or you can forward your messages and delete the copies on your old mail service.
begin by visiting Outlook and select the settings cog in the upper right corner.
Select Connected Accounts and then select Add a connected account.
You will fill out your name, email address and password and choose where your imported email will be stored.
You can create a new folder for imported email or Import into existing folders.
You may have to enter your email settings manually, depending on your old email provider.
How to forward emails to Gmail:
Begin by visiting Gmail and select the cog icon in the upper right corner.
Select Accounts and Import then Add a mail account.
Enter your email address and select either "Link accounts with Gmailify" – which will leave a copy of the emails on your old account.
Alternatively choose “Import emails from my other account" – which will not leave a copy on your old account.
For most email services, all of the fields will be pre-populated, if not, you can get the information from your email service provider, then select Add Account.
Once you have connected your account, return to Settings, Accounts and Import and choose to "Always reply from the default address," which should be your new Gmail address.
