WhatsApp call waiting feature: How to use it

WhatsApp call waiting feature has been released for both iOS and Android smartphones in the latest update. As the name suggests, the WhatsApp call waiting feature allows users to see incoming WhatsApp calls even if they are already on a call. The feature is available through the latest WhatsApp version 2.19.352.

The Facebook-owned free messaging platform recently unveiled the feature in which users on a call will now receive a notification in case they get another call. The users will now be able to choose if they want to answer or decline a call while they are already on a WhatsApp voice or video call, this won't interrupt your existing call.

How to use WhatsApp Call Waiting feature

Here are the instructions which you can follow to activate and use the call waiting feature for iOS and Android smartphones.

If someone calls you on WhatsApp

If someone calls you on WhatsApp, you can select from the following options:

• End & Accept: You Can End the call you're currently on and accept the incoming call which you are getting on WhatsApp.
• Decline: You can even Decline the incoming call and remain on the current call.

If someone calls you from outside of WhatsApp

If you are currently on a WhatsApp voice or video call and someone attempts to call you through a landline or mobile phone outside of WhatsApp, you can tap:

• Answer: You can end the call you're currently on and accept the incoming call.
• Decline: You can decline the incoming call and remain on the current call.
• Screen call: If you have Google Assistant screen your call, and ask who's calling and why.

WhatsApp call waiting feature is slightly different from how to call waiting works with cellular calls. In WhatsApp call you can't put people on hold, and simultaneously talk to two people by switching between calls, on WhatsApp call you will have to be active on only one call.

Hence, if you are on a WhatsApp call and if you get another call, then that second call is out-rightly rejected by the app. WhatsApp describes the new feature as, "Added call waiting for support so you can choose to accept an incoming WhatsApp call while you're already on another call."
