When your to-do list includes items that don't need to be on a calendar, you need Google Reminders. This time-management feature can make it easy to stick to a busy schedule without forgetting anything.
Google Reminders Are Part Of Google Calendar
You may already be using Google Calendar in order to stay on top of a busy schedule filled with appointments that you need to keep track of. Google Reminders offers a way to ensure you don't forget the little things either. Reminders can be set for a specific date and time, and have plenty of autofill options to make it as easy as possible.
Reminders are a great way to stay on top of your to-do list, and they carry forward until you cancel them, or mark them as done. When you go to create a reminder Google will use what it knows to help predict your reminders and keep things quick. This means if you set a reminder to call your sister for her birthday, Google will pull the phone number associated with that name.
How To Set A Google Reminder
This is critical to remember: Google Reminders can only be set for a date and time in the future. This means that if you're trying to remember to pick up eggs from the store on your way home from work, it won't let you add a reminder for today since reminders have to be set for a different date in the future. Likewise, if you don't mark a reminder as completed on the day it is originally set for, it will recur. It is after all, a reminder.
- Open Google Calendar on your phone.
- Tap the red plus icon at the bottom right of the screen.
- Tap Reminder.
- Type in the event or item you want to be reminded of and click done.
- Choose a date for your reminder. (It can be all day, or by tapping the toggle you can select a specific time frame.)
- Tap Save.
How To Edit A Google Reminder
- Open Google Calendar.
- Tap the reminder in your calendar.
- Tap the pencil icon to edit your reminder.
- Change the name, date, time, or repeat of your reminder.
- Tap Save.
How To Cancel A Google Reminder
Cancelling or editing a reminder is all done from inside the Google Calendar app. If you've completed what a reminder was meant for, you can open up the reminder and then tap Mark as Done and it will stop notifying you. You can also delete a reminder using the following steps:
- Open Google Calendar.
- Tap on the reminder in your calendar.
- Tap the overflow icon in the upper right corner. (It looks like three vertical dots.)
- Tap Delete.
