How to track your Apple iPhone from Android

Find My iPhone is great for tracking down a missing iOS device using another Apple product, but if there are no iOS or Mac devices around, you can still track an iPhone using an Android device.

If you have the Find My iPhone feature enabled on the iOS device, you can simply log in to iCloud.com with your Apple ID and access the Find My iPhone app from your personal account. You can do this from any browser, including the Google Chrome browser on an Android smartphone.
Once you're logged into your iCloud account you can access the Find My iPhone app to do a few things:
  • Play a sound to help you find your device.
  • Enable Lost Mode to prevent intruders from hacking your device.
  • Erase the device remotely.

Even if you own an iPhone, there's a good chance you have a Gmail account or use some Google apps or features that require Google login credentials. If you're logged in to your Googe account on your iPhone, you're in luck and can easily track your iPhone.
    1. Open an incognito tab in a browser on an Android device and log in to account.google.com with your Google credentials.
    2. Select Sign-in & Security, then select either Find your phone or scroll down on the main page and select Find your phone. All the smartphones connected to your Google account will be listed here, including iPhones.
    3. Select the iPhone you wish to track and input your Google password once more. This step is done for extra verification.
    4. The information page will show basic details including the last time the Google account was synced to the device and the last log-in location and time. If any logins look suspicious you can select Something looks wrong for the option to change your Google password.

Tracking your iPhone through Google Maps may be a little archaic, but it can help in a pinch. This method can help you retrace your steps and figure out where you left your phone.
    6. Log in to your Google Maps location history in an incognito browser on an Android device. Select the date your phone went missing and review locations you visited and travel routes you took on that date. If you took photos on that date (and use Google Photos) the images will appear in the timeline and provide an indication of where you were the last time you used your device.

Using a GPS tracking app is also a good tool for locating a lost or stolen iPhone; however, the user must have the app installed before the phone goes missing. For a safety measure, select and install a GPS tracking app onto your iPhone that's compatible with both iOS and Android; GPS Tracker by Life 360 is a good option. The app comes in free and paid premium versions and also includes a phone tracking feature.
Have a friend with an Android device install the same app and use the app on your phone to locate your phone if it's misplaced. Alternatively, you can log in to your Life360 account from an incognito browser on an Android device to track your phone. Many other tracking apps will work in a similar fashion.
